On surface level Food (yes I am just going to call him that shhh sdkjgsdk) is a very simplistic character. He is also a simplistic character on every level but I am trying to give him credit here. The most obvious thing about Food is that he wears his heart on his sleeve; he's earnest and honest about everything he feels and thinks. He's practically incapable of keeping secrets or practising deception. As soon as Satsuki finds him extending the life of a dying woman he confesses to infecting her as if he's a criminal. This stems from the guilt he feels from being a Maka: in order to survive they need 3 things; moonlight, carbonated water...and human hearts. And normally to claim these Maka infect humans and wait 8 days for their hearts to ripen. Food however only chooses humans close to or near death, extending their lives for 8 days and eating once they've passed for real.

Rather than seeing humans as a food source though Food sees them as fascinating and as actual people. He feels pity and sorrow for them and prays for all those he infects, apologizing. Food is even reluctant to harm them and doesn't even fight back when he's chased by a mob of them that want to kill him for being Maka. He prefers running to direct conflict and only uses his powers for "love and justice." He's basically a giant woob and a huge fanboy. As much as he loves humans and wants to get along with them he really...has no idea how to actually go about there. There's a bit of a cultural barrier between Food and normality.

Food can be dumb. And oblivious, which is half his inexperience with humans and half how idealistic and childish he can be. He understands Maka culture well enough but he often has to look things up on his phone about humans and their relationships, and often reacts in the wrong way about srs things. He's basically one giant tourist weeaboo except about the whole world and not just Japan. He loves new experiences and idolizes heroes, and when it comes down to it Food is an incredibly selfless person despite how bad his judgment can be at times. When Satsuki's life becomes endangered Food offers himself to her so that she'll be able to recover and kill the Camellia Maka. He's brave when it counts and he'll do anything for whoever he cares about.

The thing he wants most in the world is to make a human friend.
